Make me a Roo: Dogs ruck wants out, Tigers pounce on Saint

WESTERN Bulldogs ruck Kim Rennie has officially requested a trade to North Melbourne.

The 26-year-old had been linked to the Roos in the lead-up to the trade period, but womens.afl understands Rennie informed the Dogs of her decision late last week.

The move may allow North Melbourne to play Emma King forward for longer stints, while fellow tall Kate Gillespie-Jones is understood to be exploring her options elsewhere.

Young Western Bulldogs midfielder Amelia Van Oosterwijck has made the decision to retire at just 19.

She played one AFLW game in her two seasons at the club.

"To play at the top level you really need to be passionate about the game and what it takes to become an elite athlete – I tried to find that passion, but unfortunately where I am today, it’s not in me," Van Oosterwijck said.

"The decision to retire did not happen overnight, it was one that involved many conversations with my coaches, family, and close teammates at the Bulldogs.

"I understand I am only 19 years old, so who knows whether that passion may return, and I may one day come back to AFLW."

Brisbane injury top-up player Beth Pinchin has ruptured her ACL while playing for the Western Bulldogs' VFLW team.

It is the third serious knee injury for the luckless key defender, who joined the Lions for the 2021 season as cover for Sharni Webb (pregnancy).

The Lions have confirmed she will not be on their list for the 2021/22 season.

Richmond moved quickly to fill the hole left by the departed Sabrina Frederick, trading pick No.48 for St Kilda's Poppy Kelly.

Kelly, 22, joined Richmond on Wednesday of the NAB AFLW Sign and Trade Period, after Frederick made the switch to Collingwood on Monday.

The 182cm ruck-forward played six games across two seasons at St Kilda, with the Saints usually opting to run with co-captain Rhi Watt as a solo ruck.

Pick No.48 initially sat with the Magpies, before being traded to Punt Road as part of the Frederick deal, which also saw Maddie Shevlin becoming a Tiger.

In other Sign and Trade news, Fremantle defender Ange Stannett and winger Steph Cain have signed two-year deals.

A cross-code success story, Stannett initially joined the Dockers at the end of 2018 as a rookie, having previously played for Perth Glory in the W-League.

Cain finished second in the club's best and fairest this year, her first season since rupturing her ACL.
