Joining the NAB AFL Women's competition in 2022

In late 2021, the Essendon Football Club become truly whole, with the AFL Commission granting an AFLW licence for the Bombers to join the national women’s competition for the 2022/2023 season onwards.

The Bombers also secured the services of the experienced coach Natalie Wood who will lead the club into its first season in the national women’s competition.

The club’s strong women's football program foundations, as well as its existing and considerable membership base nationally, as well as its strong presence in the north-west corridor of Melbourne and NGA regions in the Northern Territory to attract and retain female talent.
