Emma Swanson

27 February 1995

West Coast's inaugural, and current, AFLW captain Emma Swanson plied her trade with the GWS Giants for her first three years in the AFLW, where she earned 13 senior appearances as well as being appointed vice-captain.

In 2017, Swanson was named in the All-Australian team before being sidelined for a majority of the 2019 season with a shoulder injury. In April of that year, Swanson was signed by the Eagles during the AFLW's exchange period, as well as being named the first captain ahead of the 2020 season. Alongside Dana Hooker, Swanson stood strong in the Eagles' engine room, finishing a single vote behind Hooker at the Club Champion awards. Swanson is also a three-time Under-18 All-Australian, three-time Peel Thunder best and fairest winner and four-time East Fremantle best and fairest winner.
