The recent arrivals of Hannah Stuart and Deanna Jolliffe to St Kilda have given a distinct Southern Saints flavour, but Lucy Burke was the one to lay the early foundations.
Burke, who is of no relation to teammate Alice Burke, first joined the red, white and black as an injury replacement player for Paige Price, chalking up six games after making her debut in the season opener against Richmond. The 2021 VFLW Team of the Year inductee returned to the Southern Saints in the recent AFLW off-season, helping kickstart the side’s progression to its maiden Grand Final appearance.
