After an injury-hampered 2020 at the Blues, Jayde Van Dyk was at last able to prove her many capabilities following her trade to St Kilda. The versatile defender – who played a mix of lockdown and intercepting roles in 2021 – proved a mainstay of the Saints’ defensive line-up, ending the season inside the top 10 of the club’s best and fairest. Van Dyk holds a decorated football resume, with VFLW premiership honours, best and fairest distinctions and the Debbie Lee Medal making up her silverware cabinet. Although a pioneer on the field, the apprentice carpenter is continuing to forge new pathways for the next generation coming through.
