Surman is a latecomer to football after originally coming from a basketball background. She played for the Suns in the inaugural Winter Series in 2019 and won the Player of the Winter Series award that year.
An eye-catching player on the field, Surman has elite agility which sees her find space effortlessly either in the midfield or forward line. She has played every games since her AFLW debut in round one, 2020 and is a consistent contributor, finishing fifth in the 2021 club champion. Entering only her fifth year of football, Surman will continue her development throughout the 2022 season.
