The Kangaroos’ second selection in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft, Sarah Wright has formed a strong reputation within Arden Street as a consistently reliable defender capable of playing a multitude of roles.
One of the most understated and underrated players on the list, Wright is a strong and athletic one-on-one defender and is often the one tasked with defending the opposition’s most dangerous mid-sized forward. A strong intercept marker, she seems to float back and mark goal-bound opposition shots on a near weekly basis, using her intelligence to move off her forward to be able to impact the play as much as possible. Sarah Wright once again put together a season of quiet achievement in 2022, playing every game as part of a back six that was beset by injury and personnel issues throughout the season.
