A player with a rare knack for finding the goals, Sophie Abbatangelo has cemented herself as a near permanent fixture of North Melbourne's forward line since being recruited ahead of the 2019 season.
She finished as the club's tied leading goalkicker in 2021 with nine goals and has continued to improve her output year on year. Her hard running and clean hands make her a strong leading forward, but her strength in the contest and ability to win the hard ball make her a nightmare for opposition defenders to match up on. After struggling for form at times in the 2021 campaign Sophie Abbatangelo emerged from the 2022 season almost a totally different player than she was the year prior. She played all but one game for the season and cemented herself as a near un-droppable member of the forward line. She added tackling pressure and intent to her game, and was willing to hunt the opposition down and lock the ball inside the Kangaroos' attacking half more than ever before.
