The first father/daughter pick in North Melbourne history, Amy Smith turned her back on a promising basketball career to pursue her AFLW dream.
A capable utility player who looks to have found a home on the wing, Smith is among the best runners at the club and her aerobic capacity is well suited to that wing role she is quickly making her own. Fierce in the tackle and composed with the ball, she’s developed rapidly in her two seasons at the club and has shown herself to be an incredibly versatile option in the wider areas of the ground. After a season of development in VFLW, Smith finally made her senior debut in 2022, eventually playing in six games across the campaign. The struggle to find consistent game time in the seniors would have been frustrating for Smith, but those six games will have allowed her to gain knowledge of the level and standard required to make it at the AFLW level
