GEELONG opened the 2021 NAB AFLW season with a demoralising defeat at the hands of North Melbourne, failing to kick a goal until the last quarter and losing by 62 points.

Once again, the two sides have been drawn to face each other in the first round of 2022 season, but could it be a blessing in disguise for the Cats?

"This year, it's a new coach (Dan Lowther), a few new young players, it'll be a good way to test how far they've come since 2021 where they won one game," Lucy Watkin said on Credit to the Girls podcast.

"Against a good side like North Melbourne, who are probably expected to make finals, it'll be a good way to gauge what we're going to get from the Cats in 2022."
