Queen of the Hill: Carlton gun signs on for another year

FORMER Rising Star winner Mimi Hill will remain a Blue for two more seasons, with the 20-year-old signing a one-year contract extension to remain at Carlton until the end of 2024.

The signing is a welcome development for the Blues, with the club enduring a tumultuous off-season which saw the departures of head coach Daniel Harford, AFLW footy boss Brett Munro and star defender Lucy McEvoy.

After being crowned the NAB AFLW Rising Star in season six of the AFLW competition, Hill enjoyed a stellar season seven, taking out Carlton's best and fairest award after averaging 23 disposals per game throughout the season.

GOT THE BLUES McEvoy's exit cuts deep amid Carlton turmoil

With Hill already contracted to Carlton for the upcoming 2023 season, the Blues' head of football Brad Lloyd said Hill's decision to sign on for an additional year was a great show of commitment to Carlton's future.

"To have Mimi show such enormous faith in the club by adding an additional year to her contract tells you everything you need to know about her character and commitment to this football club,” Lloyd said.
"For someone so early in their career, to be prepared to take ownership and thrive on the responsibility in helping to take this program into its next era is seriously impressive.
"Every Carlton person should feel genuinely excited to have a player of the calibre of Mimi so invested in driving this football club to the position we are all striving to see it reach.
